Type Locality and Naming
Along the village of Gezan, Central Tajikistan. M.R. Jalilov, Yu.N. Andreyev, F.Kh. Hakimov, et al., 1971 (191, p.76). Stratotype near the village of Gezan, on the right bank of the Magian River.
Synonym: Gezanskaya Suite, Гезанская св.
Lithology and Thickness
At the bottom - brick-red siltstone (aleurolites) with layers of conglomerates and shell rocks
At the top - alternation of siltstone (aleurolites) and sandstones with clayey catuns and imprints of shells. Thickness 34-65 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It lies conformably on the Kuhistan Fm
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the Kuruk Fm.
Regional extent
Zarafshan district.
